Our History

1973

A Legacy of Innovation Since 1973

The first oil crisis occurred. Reflecting the growing needs of energy conservation, we worked on the development of the window film that provides a "heat insulation effect", leading to "LUMICOOL".

1974

Japanese Shatterproof Effect

A time bomb went off in front of the headquarter of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Eight persons were killed and 385 were severely or slightly injured by flying fragments of broken windows. The incident was followed by the series of bomb attacks targeting several companies, including Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in October, Teijin Ltd. in November and Taisei Corp. in December. Based on the experience, we started developing window films providing a "shatterproof effect"

Born of LUMICOOL

Released "LUMICOOL", an anti-shatter, solar control film.

1980

Founded FSK of America, Inc

Founded FSK OF AMERICA, INC. (currently LINTEC OF AMERICA, INC.), and acquired MADICO, INC., a manufacturer of industrial-use adhesive films (window films).

1998

Launching and Combining Window Film Types

Released the four types of the "REFTEL" series and integrated the item numbers, "LUMICOOL 5000" and "SUNMILD HM-65", to "REFTEL ZCO5G".

1999

Launching SUNMILD Car Film

Added the heat insulating type, "HEAT CUT series - Transparent Type", to "SUNMILD CAR FILMS" the automobile-use window films. The product provides a high degree of solar radiation transmissivity, 70 to 80%, which is about the same as transparent films.

2001

LUMICOOL Award Winning

"LUMICOOL" won the Good Design Award 2001.

2022

Launching MISTLASS

Released "MISTLASS" for glass decoration that renders a calm space simply by applying it to clear glass, softly diffusing transmission light as if through the mist (MST series: Four items of PET material/MSV series: Two items of PVC material).

2004

LUMICOOL 1561UH The Best Security

The crime prevention film, "LUMICOOL 1561UH", was listed in the "Building Parts with High Security Performance" published by the joint meeting composed of the National Police Agency, its related agencies and private organizations related to the building parts.

2006

Launch New Automotive Films

In addition to "SUNMILD CAR FILMS", we released a new line-up of five "WINCOS AUTOMOTIVE FILMS" for high-end cars. Characterized by a luxurious color and metallic look, these high grade films can cut 90% of the high-thermal-energy infrared band with their unique infrared-cutoff capability.

2008

Launch of Heat-Resistant Window Film for Buildings

Released the heat-insulating film for buildings with high transparency, "HEAT CUT HCN-70B", which utilizes the heat insulation method established in the window films for automobiles, "WINCOS AUTOMOTIVE FILMS". Despite of its transparency, the product exhibits an unprecedented heat-insulating capability.

2010

Merger of Wincos and Sunmild Window Film

Integrated the brands "WINCOS AUTOMOTIVE FILMS" and "SUNMILD CAR FILMS" to "WINCOS AUTOMOTIVE FILMS". The former WINCOS AUTOMOTIVE FILMS was renamed to the "Premium Series" and former SUNMILD CAR FILMS to the "Standard Series"

2012

The Establishment of WINCOS

Established "WINCOS" as the main brand for the window films for buildings (with each conventional brand placed under it) and put sample books into one volume, aiming to improve awareness of our products in the global marketplace and develop a new market.

2015

Global Website Launch

Opened the WINCOS GLOBAL site.
